The foundation stone for GNR Group of Institutions was laid by the great Visionary Mr. G.N.C. Reddy in the year 1985 as a gratitude to his father late Shri. G. Narasimha Reddy (1920 - 2016). Narasimha Reddy was the first person in his village Guttenahalli (Gowribidanur Taluk, Chikkaballapur District, Bangalore) to complete Barriculate education. He worked under many officers of the British and post Independence he served the PWD department with great dedication and energy. He has worked tremendously in upbringing the village that he was born in. Planting trees, helping the needy families, constructing toilets in government schools, installing benches for children to sit and eat their lunch comfortably, providing scholarships to the deserving and financially backward students, distributing wheel chairs for the physically challenged children, sewing machines for ladies for self employment and many more.
He has worked selflessly for the upliftment of schooling facilities in the villages. He is fondly known as "Boondhi Thatha" by all the kids of the villages for distributing sweet boondhi (sweet dish) to all the kids in the villages.
His son Mr. GNC Reddy, chairman of GNR Group of Institutions is following in the footsteps laid by his father with the sole aim of providing quality education at affordable prices. He is the recipient of the prestigious "Indira Priyadarshini National Award" in the year 2001 for social service. He adopts and educates 10 deserving children through GNR Charitable Trust every year from his village after their high school education by helping them morally and financially to realize their educational dreams. He inspires rural children to excel in education by rewarding their efforts in board examinations in the form of books required for next level education, stationary supplies and much more.
